Premier League Match Reports

At the moment our Premier team are finding it difficult to pull out the wins although playing at times some brilliant netball. We found ourselves 9 - 10 down 1st Q against local rivals Academy from Middx which they extended each quarter after that by 1 or 2 goals. Going into the last quarter we were 9 goals down but with a great deal of determination to try and get within 5 goals to get an extra point for the match the girls fought hard and with great team spirit & skill they won this last quarter 13 goals to 7 to finish 3 goals behind at 38 - 41 and the extra point.
An early start on Sunday saw us travel up to Oldham in Manchester for another tight match. At times the team played very well with some great shooting, strong defending and some flair from the middle of the court. Unfortunately this did not happen all the time and although winning the last quarter it was not enough to take the match.

A disappointing result today against our local rivals Essex Open. Lots of changes due to the 6 quarter Super Cup rule unsettled the team in the 2nd half. Going into the 3rd Q Cambell were up by 3 goals and although drawing the 4th Q it was the 3Q that was our downfall and lost 41 - 43: Full report below.
A disappointing result today against the league leaders Linden of Birmingham.

Premier League Match Report

A disappointing result today against the league leaders Linden of Birmingham. With the first match of the season against Linden, we as a squad knew this was always going to be a tough one.  With the score at 6 - 11 the attacking end found it difficult to find the space in the attacking end but worked hard to set up and reset to achieve their aims.  2nd Q saw a team subsititution due to Gemma again only being allowed to play 6 quarters and a change around in the centre court allowed the team to draw this quarter 10 - 10. The 3rd Q Linden put the pressure on and consequently we became hesitant in our moves and passing which had a knock on effect in the shooting circle.  The 4th Q was tough and tight all the way through the court but unfortunately we were not able to capatilise on our 10 turnovers and lost the game 25 - 48.
Our next home fixture is against Essex Open on the 1st February at Abbs Cross School Hx. 12.30 start.

Premier League Match v Kent Club Sunday 14th December

Well our last fixture of the season and a good win to put us all in an excellent Christmas Spirit.  Once again a new starting line up as Becky was available due not having a Super League match this weekend.  A slow start with Gemma only being allowed to play 3 Q (6 quarter rule) for us again we juggled the squad around and found ourselves just 2 goals behind going into the 2 Q.  From the 2nd Quarter onwards we won each quarter with the team working hard in both attack and defence turning the ball over 12 times to take the lead by just 1 goal. The 3rd quarter Kent came out to put a lot of pressure on our attack but we were able to pull away to a 5 goal lead.  This set us up for a great last quarter and one that we were determined to continue to work hard and producing some great netball scoring 10 goals without a reply to take the match by 43 goals to 26.  Well Played every one and Merry Christmas: Squad: Amy: Sarah: Gemma: Tracey: Antonia: Holly: Becky: Mary Ann: Clare: Lauren: Adele: Jillean:

Premier League Match v Falcons Black:
Sunday December 7th

A good journey up to Loughborough where we met Falcons in the last of the 1st round of matches for the season.  Unfortunately again we were dodged with injuries and the list continues to grow every week, but like troopers the girls always are willing to give 100% effort.  Another poor start to the match with again a new starting line up which led with us losing by 8 goals. Changes to the team over the next three quarters saw some really good netball but at times some hesitant play as well. Losing the 2nd quarter by just 1 goal and the third by just 2 goals, the lack of actual team practise showed and they lost the match 53 goals to 34. One consolation if any can be taken by their coach informing us that 'that was the best they had played, but also she had her whole squad available' - Makes all the difference ah girls!  Squad: Amy: Sarah: Gemma: Antonia: Tracey: Holly: MaryAnn: Emiley: Clare: Adele: Training Wednesday match Sunday v Kent.

Congratulations to Jade Cornhill and Lauren Allington who were selected for the Mavericks Talent squad at the weekend!

Congratulations must also go to two of our Senior Premiership members and that is Gemma Wiseman and Clare Higham who have both achieved a place in the Mavericks Senior Squad.

Congratulations to another New Cambell Prem player Becky Nash. Brunel squad member Becky who has been out of action for 2 years with a serious knee injury has regained her place back into the Brunel squad for this coming season.

Premier League - Sunday 9th November v Academy:

We couldn’t have wished for a better start to the match leading the 1st quarter 11- 6 against Academy. Unfortunately we were caught short this week with the 6 Quarters rule taking a devastating effect on our team. With just 2 shooters left in the squad going into this match, Gemma was selected to play for Mavericks in the 'Super Cup' match on the Saturday for three quarters of the match which left us with her being able to play only three quarters of the game for us. With players also involved in the U19 L&SE Nationals and Becky (Brunel) only allowed (again 6Q rule) 2 Quarters found our selves a little short of players. We moved our GK Adele up to Shooter and the rest of the team worked hard to give Sarah & Adele as many opportunities as they could but unfortunately we only scored 4 goals to find us at half time 2 goals behind. With Gemma back on court and a change of centre court we knew we were still in with a chance, but it took too long to settle and we found ourselves 7 goals down going into the last quarter. 4th Quarter saw very little change in the play, with just too many errors and Academy were able to pull away to a 10 goal lead of 28 - 38. Premier League - Sunday 2nd November v Oldham:

A tough hard match was played today against the Manchester team of Oldham. With a good squad to select from and leading 4 - 0 I thought we were in with a chance. But I had forgotten Mike Greenwoods determination and gradually they pulled 4 goals back to put us just 1 goal ahead at 11 - 10: 2nd Q again we pulled away only for Oldham to claw back that small lead now of 4 goals to put us all square at 23 - 23; 3rd Q saw a change in the team line up bringing on a new WA: C & GD and again we pulled away to end the 3rd Q up by 3 goals. Going into the 4th quarter we knew that Oldham would come back fighting and hit us hard, bringing back their Super League player at GK kept them in contention. Some silly errors by NC meant there was just 2 to 3 goals in it through out this quarter but unfortunate for us they got 3 quick goals on the trot to finish the match all square at 45 each. Premier League v Oaksway (H) October 5th

Using our new venue Abbs X School in Hornchurch we played a tough match against the Hartlepool team of Oaksway.

1st Q we found ourselves 6 - 12 down but gradually over the next 3 quarters we started to claw the goals back and ended up losing by just 4 goals with a score of 34 - 38.
